Legal Notices for Use of BriefBank

  1. No legal advice. The BriefBank site provides a service to users by providing technology law legal briefs that have been submitted in U.S. courts. These briefs are intended to be helpful to users doing legal research, but are a small subset of technology law legal briefs and may not constitute complete, adequate or current legal information. They are available to all BriefBank users seeking to do research and are not offered in response to individual legal questions. As such, the BriefBank site does not provide legal advice, and nothing on this site should be construed as such. Sending email to the BriefBank project or entering information into our web forms does not create a lawyer-client relationship, with the heightened confidentiality provisions of such a relationship. Those in need of legal advice should seek the counsel of a qualified attorney.
  2. No commercialization of briefs. You may make customary research use of the briefs provided by BriefBank. You may not sell, barter or make available for commercial purposes copies of any brief that you obtain from BriefBank.
  3. Brief submissions. We invite you to submit legal briefs that relate to law, technology, and public policy to BriefBank. If you submit a brief, we will review it for appropriateness; we may edit the formatting and may reject any submission in our sole discretion. If we accept your submission, it will be made available to BriefBank users for research purposes. If you would like attribution, we will list you as a contributor to the BriefBank site, but this is entirely optional. To see how we collect and use your personal information, view our Privacy Policy. To submit a brief, go to our Contribute a Brief Page.
